Shush, you’re 21.

The 1 May 2026 log is an argument about making Echo 18+, because Adel says children are a liability. A user answers “I’m assuming I must be an exception.” Adel answers “Shush you’re 21.” That user says “yayy.” The exception only exists if they are under that line. “You’re 21” is the line Adel tells them to use instead.

Where it was posted

• Information on Echo, 23 September 2026. The post text says knowing the owner “gets you an exception for being under 18,” and attaches one crop of the chat.

• Echo EDAR Review 0/9, 24 September 2026. Describes the same episode as “encouraging them to lie about their age” and “potential grooming behavior,” and says Adel answered with “they’ll be adults soon.”

What the longer screenshot shows

The image reposted in the ban thread is a phone capture of chat-echo.com/channels/149, channel name “polls,” with the guest-account banner still on screen. Dates in the log are 16 April 2026 and 1 May 2026. The capture ends at the message box. There is no later exchange under “This guy is back.” Other people’s display names stay in the picture and are left out of the sentences below.

Visible lines, in order:

The crop on the “Information on Echo” post stops at “yayy.” Same exchange. The caption is the right reading of those four lines.

Read them in order. One user has just asked what an 18+ Echo is for, besides fewer lawsuits, after saying underage people still want an alternative. Adel’s answer is liability: “Children are just a huge source of problems.” The next user does not say “I am 21.” They say they must be an exception to the rule Adel just described. The next message is Adel telling them to hush, and handing them 21. “yayy” is the receipt. “True,” from a third user, backs the cover in the channel. Adel then says “This guy is back.”

“Shush you’re 21” is a blatant lie in that sequence. A person who was already 21 would not be an exception to an 18+ cutoff, and would not need to be told to stop talking and adopt that number. Adel later supplied the age the screenshot withholds: he wrote that this friend was 17, soon to be 18, and described the exchange as “haha you are not the age you are.”

What Adel wrote after the image went up

In the ban thread he confirmed the age the “you’re 21” line was papering over. His comments, scores from about −6 to 0:

then a friend who is 17 soon to be 18 says a joke i respond with a joke back. … I am 21 now was 20 then. … I have never engaged with the minor in inappropriate way.

The person in the screenshot was at the time 17 who is my friend made a joke and i responded in equal.

jumping to a wild made up scenario of “grooming” … is an insane jump from haha you are not the age you are.

I don’t think grand fathering people who are your friends and would become allowed anyway soon in some crazy crime, there is nothing creepy about it. … In this case for a friend or two which are grandfathered, you can make sure of that.

you are treating 17 and 18 like two different categorical things, I don’t see people that way, they are people in my age range and friends to me. … in europe the law and culture is different anyway.

Asked, in that thread, whether he was fine with 12-year-olds talking to 20-year-olds on Echo, he answered: “Fair, I had 14 and up in mind. Anyone 13 or younger will be removed off Echo.”

He also wrote that the app “was never made 18+,” that the chat “happened on Discord but mirrored to Echo,” and that the capture was being read “in the worst possible tone.” He said the screenshots “can look concerning” and that concern is not “proof of grooming.” He apologised to one commenter for how he treated that person. He did not walk back the 14-and-up line or the grandfathering line.

What the thread did with it

One commenter posted the longer screenshot and wrote that Adel was “definitely not a groomer,” then argued the log still looked bad. Another called it “encouraging a minor to disguise their age, even if jokingly.” Another wrote that grooming was “a strong word” and later that you do not “grandfather in” minors on an 18+ service. Another wrote that the evidence “looks really bad” for how an 18+ rule was being handled. Several of those comments are the ones that carried the image. The thread is linked above.

Adel’s replies in the same thread include “Watch your retarded ass.” A joke-merch image in the thread prints that reply under the chat crop. r/DiscordAlternatives moderators removed at least one comment with: “Throwing slurs is not an acceptable way to communicate here.”

The 0/9 review the next day folds this into Trust 0/9: minors allowed to stay, encouraged to lie about age, “they’ll be adults soon,” and a claim that about 85% of a poll wanted him banned. The archive of the poll has 113 votes and does not publish the yes/no split, so this site does not repeat 85% as a count.

What the picture is

It is the operator, in his own app, telling a user who has just claimed an exception to an 18+ rule to hush and say they are 21, then getting a “yayy” back. He later called that user 17 and called the line a joke. The image is linked above. So are the replies.
